‘Practise random acts of kindness’ as a motto reads like an 80’s bumper sticker but they are still valuable words to live by. While we know it’s sure to brighten the day of those who need it, research has also consistently shown that the ‘gift of giving’ can also benefit our own mental wellbeing. After the challenging year, we’ve had, there’s never been a better time to spread the love for ‘Feel Good February’. We’ve put together a list of 25 random acts of kindness to help you feel good by making someone’s day.

  1. Leave money in a zip lock bag and sticky tape it to a vending machine at a place where people need a happiness boost like a hospital or airport.
  2. Offer your seat on the bus or train to someone else.
  3. Leave some money at a cafe that uses the Suspended Coffee program www.suspendedcoffee.com.au.
  4. Treat a homeless person to a warm, heartfelt meal.
  5. Donate your old blankets and pillows to a local animal shelter.
  6. Purchase positive affirmation cards and stick them up on the wall of your favourite cafe for people to take.
  7. Give your pre-paid parking ticket to someone who is taking your spot if there is time left on it.
  8. Pay for someone’s ice-cream beside you at the counter on a hot day.
