How to make an Easter cake

Happy Easter! If you’re catching up with friends or family today and don’t know what to bring, you might try baking a lovely Easter cake to share by following the cake recipe shown below. This easy to make marble cake doesn’t just look great it tastes great too and is guaranteed to be eaten within five minutes! So pop your apron on, hop into the kitchen and turn the oven on!


  • 225g softened butter
  • 225g caster sugar 4 eggs
  • 225g self-raising flour
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder


  1. Heat oven to 180C and grease a 20cm cake tin.  
  2. Place all the ingredients, except the cocoa powder in a food processor and whizz for 1-2 minutes, or until smooth.  
  3. Divide the mixture into two bowls. Stir the cocoa powder into one of the mixtures.
  4. Pour the vanilla mixture into the cake tin then add dollops of the cocoa mixture.
  5. Use a skewer to swirl the mixture around gently to create the marbled effect.
  6. Bake for 45-55 minutes.


This is the fun part! We’re adding chocolate icing, iced butterflies and Easter eggs but, of course, you can decorate your Easter cake however you like!
