Create a personalised space with your bedding

Bedding sets can be a great way to add a layer of protection or that finishing touch to your bedroom. Whether you love a luxury bed with plenty of pillows or love curling up in a soft quilt, your bedding can help set you up for a better night’s sleep. With various options, finding the right bedding is all about your personal needs. Here are a few key things to consider.

What types of bedding do you need?

Everyone’s bed will look different based on your personal taste in the choice of linen; however, there are a few key things that you can consider bedroom must-haves. Aside from your mattress, pillowcase, bed cover and linen sheets, there’s also a mattress protector, quilt, pillow and pillow protector to consider.

What to look for in bedding collections

When investing in your bedding, look for the best quality you can afford. Here are some things to remember when shopping for your next bedding set.

Pillows

There are various pillows with different profiles and fills to suit your sleep needs.

Pillow profile refers to the height, coming in low, medium and high profile. Remember, what’s comfortable for one person may not be comfortable for another, so it’s important to choose a pillow that can help support your head and neck as you sleep. If you’re not sure of the right pillow for you, it’s always best to get fitted properly at a Snooze store.

Pillow protectors

Our pillow protectors are a bedding must-have, helping to shield your pillows from stains, spills, dust mites, and help increase the life of your pillow. Breathable pillow protectors can also help keep your pillow in better condition. Generally, pillow protectors will come in a regular size to suit your pillow, with fabrics such as cotton and bamboo cotton.

Quilts

Quilts come in sizes to suit your mattress. Starting at single and going all the way to super king, quilts come in different fabrics. A Goose Down and Feather quilt is a great option for winter, while lighter cotton and Tencel quilts are breathable, ideal for warmer months. There are also other materials, like Alpaca and wool, offering warmth without being too heavy. You’ll also want to consider the size of your quilt. While it’s common to select a quilt that matches the size of your bed, you can also size up from your mattress to add a luxurious hangover effect.

Mattress protectors

A mattress protector is often an overlooked yet important part of your bedding collection. Ideal for helping to keep your mattress fresh, these fabric layers come in a range of styles with some waterproof options. Mattress protectors can help increase the life of your mattress by protecting it from dust mites, spills and stains. They can also help protect from dust mites and allergens.

Bedding FAQs

How many sets of bedding should I own?

How many sets of bedding you should own will ultimately come down to personal preference. While one mattress protector and protector for each pillow will generally suffice, it can be a good idea to have a spare one on hand. When it comes to other types of bedding, think about your personal needs. You may want a few spare quilts and pillows if you often have house guests. You may choose different fabrications to suit different seasons, like lighter more breathable fabrics for cooler months and warmer fabrications to cosy up in cooler months.

How long should you keep bedding?

How long your bedding lasts depends on various factors, including the type of bedding, its usage and how you look after it. You may find that your quilt doesn’t need to be replaced as frequently as your pillow. Most experts recommend replacing your pillows every 1 to 2 years. This helps ensure that you’re using pillows that are supportive, clean and free of allergens. It’s always best to read the manufacturer’s guide for each different type of bedding to discover how to look after your bedding and how long you can expect each item to last.

Do I need a bed cover?

If you want to prolong the life of your bedding and mattress, the answer is yes. A bed cover, more commonly referred to as a mattress protector, can help protect your quilt from stains and general wear and tear while shielding your linen from dust. While your mattress and quilt can prove harder to clean, a bed cover can be easily washed, allowing you to keep your bedding fresh.
