Create a cosy winter bedroom for your kids

Keep the kids warm this winter with a cosy and comfortable bedroom. With the right bedroom furniture and accessories it will quickly become their winter oasis. Follow these 5 steps and they’ll be cuddling up with a book or game in no time!

1. BED AND MATTRESS

As we’re big on sleep, the first thing we think you should consider is a fun bed, like the Calypso bed shown here, and a good quality mattress. At Snooze we have a great range of kids’ beds including bunk beds, trundle beds and midi-sleepers.

2. QUILT AND QUILT COVER

For pure cosiness, you can’t go past a toasty wool quilt. We have a fantastic range of wool quilts at Snooze in single and king single. Once you’ve found the right quilt, it’s time to style it up with a funky quilt cover. Add extra fun layers with a bright coloured sheet set and finish it off with some fun, feature cushions.

3. CARPET AND CUSHIONS

To give your kids’ bedroom some bear-cave warmth, add a thick square of carpet or colourful rug. This means they’ll be comfortable and warm when they spread out on the floor to play a game or read a book. And to keep the cold air out and the warm air in, opt for thick curtains or drapes.

4. THROW RUGS

Not only are throw rugs great to add warmth to your kids’ bed, they’re also great for wrapping around little shoulders. Choose a bright colour that matches the colour palette in your kids’ bedroom or go for a bit of colour clash and grab a throw rug in a bright contrasting colour.

5. FUN CORNER

This is the cool part! If you have the space, set up a Fun Corner. (If you don’t have the space you might like to consider a bunk bed or a bed with storage.) This can include anything you think your child would like. A desk and hutch with shelves full of craft. A small table and chairs set, with pencils and paper. A beanbag and box of blocks. Two large cushions and portable DVD player. It doesn’t matter what you include, as long as it’s fun!
