If you asked anyone about their gel infused pillow, they’d probably rave about it and tell you how much they love it and how they can’t live without it. In fact, there are many people at Snooze who would say the same thing! But what is a gel infused pillow exactly? The answer is quite simple. It’s a memory foam or latex pillow that’s infused with gel. Read on to discover what this actually means and to discover 5 reasons why so many people love them.
By now, many people know that memory foam was actually created by NASA in the 1970s in their attempt to improve seat cushioning and crash protection for their astronauts. It’s made from a substance called viscoelastic, which is soft and absorbent. These days, memory foam is used for many household items, including chairs, sofas, cushions, mattresses and pillows.
Memory foam mattresses and pillows are quite popular. This is because when you lay or rest your head on them, the foam moulds to your body. This can help to distribute your weight evenly, which may help to relieve pressure points while still offering support. When you get out of bed, the foam returns to its original shape.
While latex has a similar look and feel to memory foam, it’s actually a biodegradable product made from the sap of a rubber tree.
While some people love sleeping on memory foam or latex as they offer warmth and great support, other people, usually those who are ‘warm sleepers’, may find them too hot. This may be the reason gel beads were created and added to try to help reduce heat. These tiny beads bond with the memory foam or latex foam with the aim to allow more airflow through the mattress or pillow, which, in turn, can help regulate the temperature while you sleep.
There are two types of pillows that feature gel infusion technology. The first is gel infused memory foam pillows and the second is gel infused latex pillows. The My Side™ gel infused inlay memory foam pillow, exclusive to Snooze, is available in different profiles, or heights, ranging from low to high. The My Side™ gel infused latex pillow, which is also exclusive to Snooze, is available in low, medium and high. Both pillows come with a 5 year warranty and feature a washable TENCEL® pillowcase.
For more information, or to try a gel infused pillow, visit your local Snooze store. A sales person can explain the similarities and differences between these different pillow types and help take the guesswork out of which size and type is right for you.
