Sleeping Well.
How to sleep well every night
Of course the most important tip to sleeping well is having a mattress with the right level of personal comfort, but here are some extra things you can do to make sure you sleep well every night.
- Keep Regular Hours : Stick to a regular schedule and try to get up at the same time every morning, even on weekends and holidays.
- Exercise : exercise enhances sleep by allowing both the body and mind to unwind.
- Cut the Coffee : Have your last cup of coffee no later that 6-8 hours before bedtime. Evening caffeine has the capacity to make it harder for you to fall asleep, diminish deep sleep and increase night time awakenings.
- One is Enough : Alcohol late in the evening may mean problems throughout the night. You end up sleeping in fragments and waking often in the early morning hours.
- Quality, Not Quantity : Six hours of good solid sleep can make you feel more rested than eight hours of light or disturbed sleep.
- Don't go to Bed Stuffed or Starved : A big meal late at night makes your digestive system work overtime. Don't go to bed hungry.
- Try to Unwind and Relax : Establish another time in the day for planning and worrying.
- Practice Makes Perfect : Develop a sleep ritual. A routine before you go to bed will help your body prepare itself for a good night's sleep.
