Our History
Snooze is committed to provide new standards of service, expertise and quality.
Snooze was established with one store in Melbourne in 1974. It was one of Australia's first bedroom specialist stores, offering new standards of service, expertise and range. Demand grew and five new stores were soon opened. In 1976, we franchised stores in Victoria and New South Wales and have been franchising ever since. Snooze has become renowned for offering customers the highest level of service, value and professional advice on Australia's greatest range of beds and bedroom furniture.
In 1992, Snooze fulfilled its desire to expand into Queensland, merging with the franchised bedding group, Bedpost. This established Snooze as one of the largest specialised franchised bedding chains in the world.
Today, Snooze has over 70 stores located in Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, ACT, South Australia and Western Australia. As a result, Snooze has enormous buying power, so we can deliver the very best value to our customers.
In 2002, Snooze became a wholly owned subsidiary of Freedom Group Limited, a lifestyle retail organisation operating in Australia and New Zealand with brands including Freedom, Bayswiss, Guests and Leather Republic.
In 2006, Freedom Group Limited became part of the Steinhoff International group, and was renamed Steinhoff Asia Pacific Limited. Steinhoff International is a global raw materials, manufacturing, distribution and retail organisation with operations in 17 countries and revenues in FY2005 of over A$4 billion. The sharing of expertise, product and marketing information, and product sourcing and manufacturing opportunities via the Steinhoff Asia Pacific group has added another dimension to the Snooze brand.
Our network of stores offer the highest level of customer service along with the benefits provided by advanced computer systems, training and management.
Snooze are committed to being the best. And that's why so many people continue to Sleep Well with Snooze.
